Our office is a hybrid model working 2 days in the office.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:--- Research and document technical memos, present results to senior management (Accounting Pronouncements - SSAPs, EITFs, FASBs)--- Analyze complex accounting transactions--- Prepare consolidating entries--- Prepare/Review corporate tax returns--- Assist in financial close process--- Review workpapers and projects for accuracy and overall reasonableness--- Prepare forecasted financial statements--- Assist with external audits and updating internal control procedures--- Be a key player in developing finance/accounting strategies with executive management--- Continually look for innovative ways to improve department workflows and eliminate inefficiencies--- Lead projects to meet corporate goals and strategic initiatives--- Team lead opportunities with department/organizational projects--- Analyze software needs for department--- Document system requirements for software upgrades, replacement and enhancements--- Assist with implementation of new softwareQualifications:--- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university--- Minimum 5-years overall accounting experience--- CPA required--- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control framework--- Expert or advanced Excel skills--- Superior verbal and written communication skillsCompetencies:--- Detail-oriented--- Possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively through written reports, memos and procedures--- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.--- Good organizational skills--- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously--- Ability to work independently as well as lead special projects--- Experience with gathering software and/or system requirements for new product initiatives--- Flexibility and adaptability to the Company and department's changing needs--- Overall hard-working attitude and approach to tasks--- Interact courteously and professionally with all OMSNIC employees (including staff, managers and executives), board and committee members, agents, policyholders and vendors
