Job Description Perform and manage layout and pre-printing production of magazines and affiliated magazine products from concept to creation to completion, including digital platforms. All art and graphics will align with AFS in achieving its mission and strategic plan goals. Key Accountabilities: Coordinate production of magazines and its electronic media internally and with print providers Work with editors to design creative, eye-catching artwork and layouts for various magazine items that help communicate the information in the content. Update/design and lay out brochures, promos, ads, publications, letters, etc. Prepare finished assignments for press. Work with outside advertisers to ensure ad materials are in specification and ready for printing or web posting. Keep abreast of current trends in software, technology, and training pertaining to graphic design. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills or Experience: Degree in Graphic Design or Art, or comparable experience required. Must have 5-7 years previous experience with print and magazine production. Previous experience or training in the graphic design field is critical. Experience in design for electronic media (websites, e-newsletters, etc.) is preferred. Solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or comparable programs is required. Must be able to read and write in English. Must be able to multitask and be a good communicator. Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently. Must be able to meet deadlines. Company Description The American Foundry Society (AFS) is a non-profit association serving members of the metalcasting supply chain both in the United States and abroad. AFS provides members with advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., technical education through its Institute, as well as the transfer of innovative research and technology to the industry, its suppliers and those who buy castings. Membership is individual or corporate and is made up of three markets, including: metalcasters and producers of metal cast parts; metalcasting suppliers; and casting buyers/original equipment manufacturers. Student membership is also extended to future leaders of the metalcasting industry at a nominal cost.
