Job Description:
Zurich North America's Data & Analytics organization is looking
for an AVP, Data Analytics Engineering expert to drive technical
capability development and execution in our Analytical Platforms
space. The AVP, Data Analytics Engineering will be the key
contributor to the execution of Data Analytics platform strategy
for the Data Science, Data Governance and, Data Engineering teams
and will build the architecture, systems and technologies required
to have a best-in-class data ecosystem.In this role, you will lead
a team working on next generation data platform services and
processes that support Business Units and Share Service Units. The
ideal candidate will have experience managing a strong engineering
team.Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable infrastructure and platform to
ingest, store and process very large amounts of data (structured,
semi-structured and unstructured), including streaming and
real-time into the cloud-based Data Lake
- Work closely with Business Unit analysts to build self-service
experiences in our data democratization platform
- Build best in class ETL/ELT based solutions for effective data
ingestion and transformation and best in class MLOps to optimize
data pipelines, model deployment and model monitoring
- Work closely with the IT and the platform team to deliver
technical solutions. This includes end to end data orchestration,
data layering, data governance, metadata management and data
cataloging
- Ensures senior leadership on critically important projects
through clear & consistent communication
- Monitors and evaluates business initiatives against key
performance indicators and communicates results and recommendations
to management
- Innovate different ways of combining data sets from various
sources to augment our analytical literacy
- Test new ways of acquiring external data to augment our
existing customer databases
- Partner with the data science, actuarial science, underwriting,
claims and various business group on deep rooted data analysis
including propensity scores, catastrophic modeling, time-series
analysis, and forecasting. -Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics / Statistics and 8 or more
years of experience in the Predictive Analytics areaOR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent in Mathematics/Statistics and
12 or more years of experience in the Predictive Analytics
areaAND
- Knowledge of statistical theory, including Generalized Linear
Models and their applications in insurance.Preferred
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Statistics or a field with a statistical or
quantitative background with 8 or more years of predictive
analytics experience
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, Data
Science, Business Intelligence, or other quantitative disciplines,
especially during company growth stages, in a cross-functional
role
- 3+ years of management experience growing and leading data
teams; proven record of building and motivating successful
teams
- Experience in ETL/ELT and data wrangling using tools
(Informatica, Data Factory, Talend etc.) and languages such as
Python, R, Scala, Java, SQL, and SAS
- Experience with various AWS services (including Amazon Elastic
Compute Cloud (EC2), S3, Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), Kinesis,
Elasticsearch, Glue, Athena etc.) or Microsoft Azure services
(including Data lake, Synapse, databricks, data factory, power
platform etc.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a technical
lead
- Prior hands-on experience delivering self-service big data and
data visualization platforms
- Strong software standards and engineering practices working
within a shared codebase
- Strong communication skills with ability to effectively explain
complex material
