delivery and service. Primary Responsibilities of the Tool Maker
Manage product design and development for new or existing products.
Oversee new tool startups, validation, and manufacturing projects
to completion. Maintain full documentation related to production
mold revisions, procurement, vendor and customer qualifications.
Lead in strategic planning for tool design, development standards,
and source selection for new and existing mold and tooling
modifications. Organize pins and molds and keep updated Lead
implementation of new and existing product designs, processes,
installations, and upgrades. Performs setup, calibration,
maintenance, programming and operation on a variety of machining
equipment including lathes, surface grinders, drill presses,
milling machines, computer numerically controlled and hydraulic
presses to assemble and/or fabricate parts and complex assemblies.
Performs Welding (TIG, MIG, and Stick) Reads and interprets
specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to
determine machining operation to be performed and geometric
dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols. Computes
dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to
specifications using precision measuring instruments such as
calipers, gauges and micrometers Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies
to achieve expected performance Participates in continuous
improvement of cell processes Cross trains in other complementary
skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support
production requirements Responsible for observing all applicable
safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe
practices/conditions Correct use of appropriate personal protective
equipment. Good understanding of measuring instruments (calipers,
micrometers, height gauges, depth mics, indicators) Performs
scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling and familiar with
SAP for work orders, troubleshoots for problems during production.
Make-to-suit complex drill jigs, holding fixtures, and templates
Assist in maintaining tool room equipment. Assess, build, and
repair damage to steel fabrication tooling, dies and other Steel
Shop equipment. Experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer in a
manufacturing environment preferred but not required. Knowledge of
setting up and operating CNC machines, including knowledge of
various machining techniques and tooling. Strong programming skills
with the ability to write and edit code programs. Experience
interpreting and manually editing Code. Familiarity with CAM
software Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to provide leadership and work in a team-oriented
environment. Train operators and help troubleshoot. Provide
technical support and plastic expertise to support smooth operation
of equipment and processes. Provide training to department
personnel on new product and tooling design procedures. Communicate
effectively with supervisors, managers, and sales team with
progress of scheduled projects. Work with various departments and
managers to maintain continual quality and process improvements.
Perform sample experiments of mold processes in order to perfect
operations. Test and debug final tools prior to run off with
customers. Confer with tool vendors to expedite P.O.’s and tooling
progress. Implement sound PM program on Molds and tools. This
includes organizing the toolroom, so all work activities are
scheduled, well-structured and documented. Ensure keeping a history
log on faults and service of the tools. Other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this position is $22 - $32 dependent on
experience. Benefits include: $1,000 sign on bonus: $500 paid after
successfully completing 90 days of employment and $500 after
