Job Description:
PREMIER Design + Build Group is seeking experienced project
managers for its Chicagoland location.
The project manager performs work independently while coordinating
with superintendents, construction managers and subcontractors to
manage client construction projects. The project manager is
responsible for all aspects of construction including
bidding/budgeting/scheduling; subcontract administration, including
negotiation and issuance of contracts and change orders; RFI and
submittal tracking; client/internal meeting documentation; billing;
issue resolution; financial management; and project closeout. This
position will direct design coordination, permitting, and owner
interaction. Project types will generally fit into one of the
following categories: ground-up (industrial, office and medical),
tenant improvement/build-out, and tenant remodel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all project administration by way of critical path
schedule development; RFI and submittal tracking; meeting
documentation; bid solicitation; proposal qualification; contract
negotiation; financial management; change orders; invoices; and
billings
Performs all problem-solving activities, coordinates with
consultants, subcontractors and field personnel
Represents company professionally in project meetings
Runs strategy meetings
Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to administrative
staff and clients as needed
Formulates reports concerning work progress, cost and
scheduling
Works with superintendents and construction managers to plan,
organize and direct construction activities
Compiles as-built and close out documents, develops and completes
punch lists, and addresses warranty claims post-completion
Actively participates in team activities that promote a sense of
pride and fellowship amongst team members
Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates,
taking full ownership of projects
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Consistently exhibits a team-oriented customer focus with strong
attention to detail
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including MS Project, Word,
and Excel
Knowledge of the construction industry and project management
Experience in handling project finances, including cost reporting
and billing
Ability to communicate and interact with various types of
personalities and authority within an organization
Ability to plan and prioritize work
Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner to both
internal and external customers
Ability to exhibit exceptional customer relations including but not
limited to displaying empathy, creativity, and flexibility
Must be assertive and display a sense of urgency, motivation,
confidence, and be a self-starter
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other
applicable degree
Minimum of 3 years of experience with active involvement in
construction management as a project manager (emphasis in
design/build construction a plus)
Thorough knowledge of construction processes, engineering
principles and techniques; and construction financial
management
Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents,
drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project
schedules
