The Benefits Communications Manager role supports our Employee
Health and Benefits clients as they look to communicate with and
educate their employees on their benefits programs. This position
works directly with our clients, sales and service team members,
our Employee Benefits Communication Specialists, and our graphic
designers to build client communication strategies and plans, then
execute on them. The Benefits Communication Manager expertly aligns
a client's benefit goals with inspiring messaging, design, and a
strong communication strategy.
BENEFITS COMMUNICATIONS
- Work directly with clients, sales, and service staff to
identify benefit goals and align each client's communication
strategy to those goals
- Build communication plans to execute on each client's employee
communication strategy, reaching the right audience with the right
message at the right time
- Lead discovery meetings with clients to identify goals and
available communication channels to build strategies and plans
around
- Write, edit, and project manage employee communication
collateral and projects including but not limited to: benefits
summaries, benefits microsites, benefits surveys, email campaigns,
posters, flyers, digital signage and more
- Work with graphic designers to ensure visual consistency and
brand alignment across each client's suite of communication
collateral
- Track benefits communication deliverables and bills clients
through agency management system
- Ensure collateral library of turnkey campaigns as well as
benefit summary and other templates are continually refreshed from
a graphic and content perspective
- Review, approve, and provide constructive feedback and
mentorship to Employee Benefits Communication Specialist(s)
- Identify and research new communication services we can add to
bring additional value to our clients, sales and service teams
- Educate sales staff on how to best work with our benefits
communication team and how to use our communication services to
acquire new clients; actively engage in prospecting meetings to
showcase the value we can bring clients
- Participate broadly within the industry, joining associations
and attending events to stay connected to human resources and
employee communication trends
- Maintain an understanding of our competitor's employee
communication capabilities and improve our offerings and processes
accordingly
INTERNAL CLIENT SERVICE
- Develop working relationships with producers and service team
members to become an integrated extension of their team and work
together to understand client needs and use as an opportunity to
create services or find tools to address their issues
- Partner with other client facing colleagues who similarly
service our clients (e.g. Wellness, Technology, etc.) to ensure one
cohesive approach and timeline to address client goals and
needs
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Manage time effectively to prioritize workload, client service
requests, and service parameters
- See the project through the approval process
- Adhere to project deadlines
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
- Build strategic, personalized relationships with key producers
and sales leaders to understand their needs and improve our
communication services
- Mentor team members starting with onboarding and training, then
supporting their work through guidance and perspective from their
recent experiences and tenure on the team
REQUIRED:
- 5+ years of marketing, communications and/or public relations
experience
- Local travel within the Chicagoland area
PREFERRED:
- BS/BA in marketing, public relations, communications, business
or a related field
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs: employer-based
healthcare, voluntary benefits, retirement benefits, employee
assistance programs, etc.
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated experience with email marketing and/or marketing
automation platforms, such as Eloqua
- Knowledge of AP style guidelines
