Job Description:

Job Title: Sonographer Profession: Allied Specialty: Imaging - Sonography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification Must-Have: Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and proficient in performing scans Description: Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No weekends, no call, no holidays. Responsible for performing basic to advanced obstetric diagnostic ultrasound imaging and procedures. Procedures include first trimester, nuchal translucency, anatomy, growth, dopplers, biophysical profile, and basic fetal echocardiography. Additional tasks involve transvaginal ultrasound, portable imaging, amniocentesis, and chorionic villi sampling (CVS). Selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound exams. Utilizes Doppler, color imaging, M-mode, and real-time imaging as necessary. Employs non-standard techniques with independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnosis. Reviews medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders prior to examination. Communicates with patients to gather relevant history data. Calibrates, adjusts, and maintains ultrasound equipment. Evaluates new products and equipment for possible future use. Notifies leadership when equipment failures occur. Participates in department quality assurance studies. Prepares and maintains records of ultrasound examinations, ensuring accurate documentation of performed procedures. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require physical abilities such as lifting and pushing/pulling. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served. Understands the principles of growth and development across the lifespan. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets appropriate information to identify each patient's requirements. Provides care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
