The Village of Schaumburg is a thriving community of 75,936
residents located 12 miles west of O'Hare International Airport and
approximately 26 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. The

Purchasing Account Clerk (Engineering & Public Works) with an

STARTING PAY RATE: $22.88 - $25.88 per hour based on a 35-hour
work week. Salary dependent on qualifications. The salary range for
this position is $22.88 - $34.86. This position is represented by a
union; you may refer to the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement
available on our website.

This position performs a wide range of purchasing and accounting
duties required to maintain a centralized purchasing system
including inventory work orders, procurement card program, and
asset management functions.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will need to
effectively communicate to a full range of people and be capable of
prioritizing multiple projects, organize time and resources
effectively, and complete work with accuracy. We are looking to add
a team member with the ability to shift gears comfortably.
- Associate's Degree in finance, accounting, or related
- A minimum of one year of general office experience.
- Proficiency with current computer software systems, including
email, calendar programs, job specific software, and customer
service systems preferred or within six months of employment.
Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in
receiving office callers and in making proper disposition of
problems. Ability to establish and maintain positive working
relationships with co-workers and the public. Working knowledge of
accounting principles as applied to the maintenance of procurement
and accounts payable. Considerable knowledge of office practices
and procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively, both
verbally and in writing, in a professional manner. Use of proper
language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to perform
mathematical computations, deductive reasoning, common sense
approach, organizational ability, and multi-tasking.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position works in a typical office setting.
