Sr Service Integrity & Restoration Engr - ENG001762

The Sr. Service Integrity and Restoration Engineer is responsible for maintaining US Cellulars wireless services integrity, health and operational state of the network that carry these services. This includes rapid restoral of operations in the event of a service impairment. This position is responsibile for maintaining the framework needed to monitor performance through key metrics and to support existing and new emerging services and maintenance of the network elements our Data Centers (DCs), Regional Connectivity Centers (RCCs), Carrier Hotels (CHs), and Local Connectivity Centers (LCCs). This includes the IMS and Signaling Core, 5G SA Core, 4G LTE EPC Core, Virtualized Mobile Core, Subscriber Services and Messaging, Prepay, Lawful Intercept, 911 Emergency Services, and the Wide Area Network (WAN) and it's interconnecting circuits,. This position is responsible for vendor management/performance and holding them accountable to SLAs to drive continuous improvement of products and services.

  • The Sr. Service Integrity and Restoration Engineer is responsible for the fast restoration of the USCC Network. Expected to participate and help drive critical outage restoration efforts for severity 1, 2, 3 and Sev 1-IM incidents for customer impacting issues within a 24x7 working environment.
  • Monitor, maintain, and operate the national network infrastructure (Data Centers/RCCs/LCCs) to meet network availability and reliability objectives to ensure the products and services U.S. Cellular provides operate as designed.
  • Utilize best practices standards bodies and new industry concepts such as ITSM, eTOM, DevOps, develop operation and maintenance plans for all platforms of responsibility and provide operational support for multiple services(Voice,provisionin, messaging,IP/Wan), wireless data connectivity and service delivery platforms/network for 1xCDMA, LTE/VoLTE and emerging technologies, aka the 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.
  • Utilize industry leading solutions in AI/ML and automation to speed understanding of customer issues, quick resolution, and to minimize mistakes through automation and automated error checking.
  • Drive development of national/best practice network and organizational processes, procedures and playbooks that will allow the team to function more efficiently and productively.
  • Help in development of service failover procedures for production voice, data and enhanced data related network services. Ensure they are kept up to date and tested at regular intervals through planned and organic execution for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize KPIs and vendor performance indicators for key vendors to include quarterly business reviews that focus on quality of product, roadmap of new product, and feedback from U.S. Cellular for major vendors holds vendors to SLAs and engaged in contract negotiation.
  • Responsible to ensure proper tracking, reconciliation, inventorying, and disposal of capital assets (fixed assets) per all defined Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls for LCC, RCC, and DC fixed assets as applies.

    • Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering, IT, CS or related discipline) or equivalent work or military experience.
    • 8 years' experience in wireless telecommunications, data networking, or operations
    • Minimum of 6 - 8 years experienced at using performance indicators to measure the overall results and develop remediation and improvement plans.
    • Qualified candidates should have experience using Tableau and others visual analysis platform to develop and manage KPI for the end to end network performance
    • Ability to develop organizational key performance indicator (KPI), key quality indicators (KQI) and service quality measures (SQM)
    • Strong foundation and technical aptitude in critical areas such as 5G Core, 4G/LTE, data networking, programing languages, tapping infrastructure and tools, DC/LCC facility infrastructure and analytical and automation practices.
    • Qualified candidate will have experience in the following environments: IP, routing, signaling, server administration in virtual and non-virtual environments, application, packet technologies, LAN switching signaling, QoS, VoIP, carrier grade data centers and 1xCDMA and LTE network technologies.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Travel required
      • Experience in software development is desired; especially focus in areas of Agile and DevOps
