Building Attendant (Engineering & Public Works) part-time

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $13.18 - $14.66 per hour working up to 19 hours per week. Salary dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $13.18 - $19.11.

WORKSCHEDULE: Position typically works 30-33 hours per month. Day personnel typically work 11 AM - 2 PM and night personnel can work from 5 PM - 11 PM Monday to Friday and various hours on Saturday and Sunday 5 PM - 12:30 AM.

This position locks and secures buildings, provides assistance to customers, performs light janitorial work, and related duties as assigned.

To succeed in this role, applicants will need to be able to problem solve efficiently and prioritize tasks and responsibilities and have the capacity to understand and be sensitive to the feelings of others. We are looking to add a team member with the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities with accuracy, and shift gears comfortably.


1. Locks and secures all doors and windows. Unlocks rooms as required for meetings; secures doors after meetings.Activates or deactivates alarm.

2. Supervises sign in and sign out of groups using the facility.

3. Cleans restrooms and supplies with towels and toilet paper.

4. Performs light janitorial duties as required before and after group functions.

5. Performs interior and exterior building and parking lot inspections. Checks that meeting rooms have been vacated and not vandalized after meetings. Checks to make sure all lights in parking lots are working.

6. Returns chairs and tables to normal locations.

7. Notifies the police of any illegal activity or vandalism.

8. Checks for water leaks from rain.

9. Shovels snow and applies salt on sidewalks as needed.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma.

2. A minimum of one year of customer service, janitorial, or related experience.

3. Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs, job-specific software, and customer service systems preferred or within the first six months of employment.


1. Subject to exposure to outside elements for short periods of time.

2. Subject to extended periods of isolation.

3. Frequent standing and walking.

4. Ability to effectively carry out assigned duties during evening hours.

5. Frequent lifting and moving of such items as banquet tables and chairs.


Part-Time employees are not eligible for benefits.


Candidate screening process may consist of an application review, skills testing, employability assessment, interviews, reference checks, and other job-related testing or verifications. Chosen candidates will be subject to a background and criminal history investigation, and qualifying pre-employment medical examination and drug screen.
