This is a full-time contract / temporary position for approximately 5 months (covering a maternity leave) starting in February 2023.

Position Summary:

This position will focus on maintaining support for specific anesthesiology committees, develop and submit comment letters and nominations related to quality measurement, and participate in several cross-discipline webinars and advocacy meetings. The position will gain experience in quality measure maintenance activities, federal policy on quality initiatives, registry regulatory requirements, and regulations affecting sedation in hospital and ambulatory surgery centers. The position likewise will gain knowledge on current federal issues that will impact the delivery of anesthesia care in local settings.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Hold weekly meetings with Manager, Quality and Regulatory Affairs Executive, for routine check-ins, discussions, and direction.
  • Hold weekly meetings with the Chair of the Committee on Performance and Outcomes Measurement (CPOM).
  • With QRA Executive, facilitate the Geriatric Measure Development Technical Expert Panel.
  • Maintain CPOM workplan and adhere to regulatory calendars.
  • Schedule, attend, and take notes on monthly CPOM conference calls (1-2 nights per month).
  • Monitor questions in the QRA e-mail box.
  • Read, coordinate responses to, and respond to regulatory comment periods and physician nominations, as needed.
  • Attend the monthly CMS QMMS Measure Management Group meetings.
  • Attend relevant CMS webinars related to MIPS Value Pathways.
  • Coordinate with AQI colleagues on registry regulatory questions and issues.
  • Attend monthly registry coalition calls.
  • Attend DC Monday Morning Conference Calls and Quality Services division calls.
  • Participate in monthly "Office Hours" facilitated by the Anesthesia Quality Institute.
  • Other responsibilities as identified.

    Position Qualifications:

    • Related B.S. degree required.
    • Successful candidates need to have an interest in health care policy.
    • Demonstrated skills related to project management and committee support required.
    • Knowledge of measure development, anesthesia-related quality measures, or the Quality Payment Program is helpful but not necessary.
    • Successful candidate traits are a strong sense of responsibility, reliability, curiosity, and be well-organized.
