Manager - Midwest RegionIt is not often that a role comes along
that provides you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in
Procurement transformation with a leading firm in its
industry.Covanta is seeking an effective leader with a solid track
record of procurement and supply management performance that can
lead our Mid Atlantic Region's Procurement function.This position
will be based from our regional HQ in Chicago.The Sr Regional
Procurement Manager - Midwest will lead a team of 11 supply
management professionals, managing a spend of ---$300 million,
across 30 Facilities working for the world leader in sustainable
waste and energy solutions poised for global sourcing expansion
(read our story at )Now to the specifics of the role:
- Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, Midwest, the Sr
Regional Procurement Manager will lead the management of supplies
and services to six key sites supporting a multi-plant environment
in the East region; and provide functional guidance to sourcing
professionals supporting those locations.
- Your role will span strategic, tactical, and transactional
supply management activities. Key spend categories include
Mechanical Parts, Pressure Parts, MRO, Contractor Services, Temp
Labor, among others.. You will also be called upon to contribute to
the broader supply management agenda - demonstrating the right
values and behaviors with high emotional intelligence in working
with a disbursed stakeholder base.Specific Areas of
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, set the direction, and ensure delivery
performance of the region's procurement organization aligned with
the broader Procurement agenda.
- Deliver procurement's contribution to Outage Optimization
(plant maintenance & turnarounds), engineering and construction of
new plants, and capital projects at existing facilities
- Develop regional category strategies (leveraging the required
market intelligence) and actionable procurement and project plans
to optimize the company's spend for the region. An expansion of
procurement involvement in areas of spend not currently managed is
anticipated. Key spend categories include Mechanical Parts,
Pressure Parts, MRO, Contractor Services, Temp Labor, among
others.
- Drive robust P2P processes using continuous improvement (CI)
methodologies and technology to improve information flow and
velocity
- Support the Global Sourcing Initiative to achieve a step change
in demand placed with "low-cost country sources" / high value
regions of the world (mainly Asia in the near term)
- Develop staff capabilities through effective coaching,
oversight, & delegation
- Utilize and oversee the eRFx / Reverse Auction processes as a
tool for maximizing commodity, parts and services savings
- Effectively manage supplier relationships to optimize service,
quality, and cost
- Track and manage procurement KPIs that progress the function to
achieve "world class" excellence
- Ensure savings initiatives spanning cost reduction, cost
avoidance, revenue enhancement, rebates, working capital, etc. are
accurately documented, reviewed, reported and transferred to the
annual operating budgets and long-term strategic plans
- Direct process improvement initiatives - instituting best
practices guided by an effective change management process (MoC)
that delivers benchmark return on investment (ROI)Position

writtenEducation:Minimum Bachelor's degree; preferably Supply
Chain, Finance, or technical discipline; MBA desirable
- Experience:10-15 years of procurement and supply management
experience within a complex, global and technology driven
organizationKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Significant strength in negotiation with demonstrated success
in negotiating beneficial contracts
- Experience with eRFx / Reverse Auctions with a variety
commodities, products and services, including knowledge of the
process and software used
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP (or SAP) and Microsoft (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Accomplished in managing to, and reporting, key performance
indicators (KPIs)
- Solid understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling,
contracts, and change managementTravel:40% to 50% travel required -
