Building on the company’s leadership in the field of cellular
metabolism, Agios is advancing a robust clinical pipeline of
investigational medicines with active and planned programs in
alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK
deficiency and MDS-associated anemia. The impact you will make:
Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Zone Director to
join our growing Sales team. We want someone who cares about this
important work, and who’s driven to connect to our mission of
helping these patient communities. The Zone Director will be to
lead our national sickle cell build-out and development of a high
impact team to match the urgency and complexity of these
underserved diseases. What you will do: National Sales Strategy &
Field Force Design Establish a scalable team structure that ensures
focus, flexibility, and high share of voice Lead with an enterprise
mindset: develop the strategies, tools, metrics, and systems to
enable speed-to-impact. Launch & Market Activation Oversee and
deliver field readiness, messaging discipline, and deep HCP
engagement Shape and execute go-to-market strategy in collaboration
with Marketing, Access, Advocacy, and Medical Affairs. Drive
physician awareness and urgency around under-treated SCD patients
by educating on the full burden of disease and the unmet need for
therapeutic intervention Team Culture & Leadership Build a
high-performance, values-driven culture rooted in trust, inclusion,
urgency, and sustained excellence. Recruit and develop
mission-aligned leaders who reflect and respect the diversity of
the communities they serve. Foster a sense of pride and purpose:
this team will help restore trust among SCD patients who have
experienced decades of bias and neglect. Execution &
Cross-Functional Partnership Own national sales forecasts,
territory design, IC strategy, targeting, and performance
management systems. Serve as the voice of the field—bringing
structured insights and recommendations into commercial planning.
Partner across functions to minimize patient friction, simplify
access, and ensure long-term adherence. What you bring: A
competitive, collaborative, & commercial visionary and builder with
15 years of biopharma sales and leadership experience, including
national responsibility. Launch-proven in rare disease, hematology,
or specialty markets; experience leading teams in high-Medicaid,
access-constrained settings strongly preferred. An entrepreneurial
architect who thrives in ambiguity, attracts top talent, and can
build infrastructure that scales. A people-first leader who builds
high-trust, high-accountability teams where performance and
inclusion go together. Deeply familiar with payer dynamics,
specialty pharmacy, and patient support models in rare and complex
diseases. Experience navigating matrix organizations with ability
to influence without authority Willing to travel 50% and inspire

remote based field position. Employees in field roles must reside
within their designated territory. Regular conversations with
manager are encouraged to ensure alignment on in-person
presence/expectations. Travel may be required commensurate to the

performance-based compensation. This includes base salary and both
short- and long-term incentives that are connected to our business
strategy and vary based on individual and company performance. The
current base salary range for this position is expected to be
between $243,080 and $364,620 annualized; final salary will be
determined based on various factors including, but not limited to,
years of relevant experience, job knowledge, skills and
proficiency, degree/education, and internal comparators.
