Job Description:

Zurich is currently looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join National Accounts supporting Group Captives pricing. This colleague will support the market facing underwriting teams, portfolio efforts spearheaded by business leadership, as well as interface with the Shared Service Units such as Technical Underwriting and Finance to ensure the technical needs and analyses of Group Captives are properly informed of developments within the segment. -Our team of actuaries work in a collaborative, cross functional partnerships with the aim of improving the underwriting insights and financial performance of the book. - The actuarial analyst's or support analyst's contribution is to enhance the technical pricing, decision making, and risk selection of the field. This individual will be responsible for supporting the field U/W and actuarial needs for Group Captive business. -

As the Group Captive Transactional Pricing Actuarial Analyst, you will be one of the resources for the Group Captive team, its underwriters and leadership. In this individual contributor role, you will work independently and collaboratively on account pricing (at the captive level and individual new member level) as well as participate in more complex analytical work. - Examples of this include:

  • Manage the demands of the various stakeholders ensuring predictable and timely completion of work, including but not limited to pulling/manipulating loss and exposure data, setting up renewal files for actuarial review, developing loss selections, creating model for the determination of collateral need, testing of risk transfer, etc.Help actuaries and underwriters craft a story and support the new/renewal proposal with sound rationale for rate increases, term changes, coverage adjustments, etc. beyond "the model says so." - This includes researching and documenting reasons for changes from one term to another.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining and populating Group Captive specific actuarial databases and run monthly processes for the actuarial and underwriting team.
  • Create presentation slides for state of the captive meetings.
  • Collaborate with Finance Actuarial to ensure rate changes can be appropriately calculated for Group Captives.Understand profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as neededUse developed communication skills to bring actuarial concepts regularly into discussions and to a be a part of strategic decisions regarding profit and growth -This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure into our National Accounts Group Captives teams, segments and customers. - You will also gain valuable underwriting insights and business knowledge working within an underwriting framework.
    Required Qualifications for Actuarial Analyst:
    -
    • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 2 or more years technical/insurance experience
      OR
    • Bachelors Degree with 3.0 cumulative GPA and No prior experience required in the Actuarial area
      AND
    • Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams
      -Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

      • Insurance industry experience
      • Programming skills with knowledge and experience with VBA, SQL, R, SAS, and/or Python -
