Job Purpose

As a Senior Buyer for the Indirect category, you will be responsible for leading and supporting all strategic sourcing activities for Capital Procurement, including, but not limited to Equipment, Engineering, Construction Services and Design Build with a total spend of +$75MM across the Kraft Heinz North American Zone (U.S. and Canada). You will use experience and knowledge to create comprehensive strategies at the category level and implement the strategy through the sourcing process. We will drive program compliance through Supplier and Contract Management, bringing value for Kraft Heinz, through activities such reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitating quarterly business reviews. This position will support balanced strategies that will actively seek to reduce and/or control costs while growing efficiencies for the business. As well as work closely with the partners in various Business Units, Operations, Finance, and other corporate functions to provide innovative new products and services to meet business objectives. Success in this role requires focus on balancing outstanding service to internal business clients, global collaboration, while growing value for the company of materials and services purchased.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Engage and help handle mid to executive-level clients and supplier relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support the Category Management for a wide portfolio of sophisticated and/or critical categories to Kraft Heinz.
  • Establish and deliver performance metrics for a portfolio of categories representing a significant amount of spend.
  • Lead various sourcing projects for supplier selection/optimization to implement Category Management vision and strategies.
  • Manage Supplier Relationships and conducts Supplier Business Reviews - you will act as a high-level critical issue point for performance and risk Issues (experience with the largest food equipment manufacturers and industry leaders is a plus!).
  • As part of Supplier Management, segments suppliers at category level
  • Research and support in the development of the supplier base for specific categories
  • Lead discussions with identified suppliers around long-term objectives and strategies, ongoing market trends, innovation and technology advances, and potential investment decisions
  • Support major supplier issues and work with major partners to identify and drive resolution.
  • Identify business needs at the sourcing and category project level in the following areas: Assurance of Supply, Quality, Service, Cost, and Innovation (AQSCI).
  • Support the development and growth of multi-year category vision and strategy based on data, insights, and business requirements.
  • Build strong business relationships to increase influence over total category spend.
  • Identify and support the evaluation of potential value generating projects based on complexity, resources, risk, time to implement, and estimated financial impact.
  • Manage prioritized portfolio of projects for the category in the near and long term.
  • Support supplier selection and RFx award process for assigned projects.
  • Completes sophisticated contracts in accordance with policies and processes; ability to apply competency across categories.
  • Actively maintain strong understanding of category dynamics (current market, pricing, cost drivers, industry, and supplier variables) through trade groups, publications, etc. and communicates changes to business partners.
  • Support Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the category through collaboration with data analytics, accountable for measuring and reporting value delivery.
  • Be an enabler for continuous process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Ensure the strategic sourcing process is robustly applied to all sourcing projects.
  • Collaborates with global procurement peers to ensure support of and alignment to the supported functions.


    Expected Experience & Required Skills
    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, finance, business, or related field. Candidates with extensive relevant experience and certifications (e.g., CPM, CPIM, etc.) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
      • 3+ years of proven experience in Indirect Procurement or combination of design, construction, or food equipment.
      • Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills, as well as interpersonal and presentation skills.
      • Ability to understand, organize, and communicate sophisticated information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences.
      • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, support requests from, and interact directly across all levels of the organization.

      • Have strong analytical, planning, and execution skills, including exceptional attention to detail.
      • Possess a strategic attitude; can effectively articulate various perspectives and impacts of issues and understand the future impact to the business. Able to see all sides and the inherent value to stakeholders.
      • Supports strategy development that aligns function with organizational goals and generates results that will have a positive impact on the function/business unit. Must have experience in the sourcing life cycle process and have a strong grasp of the tools needed to complete the process.
      • Able to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions and change.
      • Able to multitask and juggle projects at varying levels of complexity.
      • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and have an understanding for source-to-pay tools (SAP, Ariba, etc.).

        Office Collaboration & Hybrid Work Environment
