Job Description:
Application Chemist – Barrier Coatings - Technical Expert We
have partnered with our client who is looking for an experienced
Application Chemist – Barrier Coatings (Technical Expert) for their
growing business in Itasca, IL. This position will have a primary
function of the development and testing water-based barrier
coatings. The barrier coatings will be developed and accessed for
application & testing paper and film. This position offers a highly

Location: Itasca, IL Work days & Hours: Monday to Friday. (8 Hour
shift.) Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Independently
conducts application testing of various products according to
standard test methods or coating experiments designed by others.
Responsible for the successful completion of product development
projects in a timely fashion, while following the department
guidelines and priorities as set by the supervisor. Accurately
records, organizes and communicates results/data from experiments
and testing. Performs necessary analysis of data, draws conclusions
based on testing results and makes recommendations of products for
customers. Recommends and performs short & long-term research
assignments related to new product development, characterization
and laboratory testing. Act as a resource for the Technical Service
Group, Quality Control and Production Follows all applicable
requirements of ISO 9001. Preferred Experience & Skills: Ideal
candidates would have work experience in water-based barrier
coatings and/or paper mills coatings development (Oil and grease
resistance/ Moisture vapor resistance / Oxygen transmission rate)
for paper and film- (application and testing) Requires an aptitude
to use and maintain sensitive test equipment, Moccon, COBB, COF
equipment, Sutherland rub, Brookfield, etc. Background in either
the Graphic Arts industry or water-based coating applications with
barrier technology is a plus. Education and/or Experience
Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering or other related sciences. 3 years of
barrier coatings experience. Should you or anyone you know be
